COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) - Three people from Columbus, Georgia, have been convicted of carjacking a man attempting to return a vehicle he bought on Craigslist.

U.S. Attorney George L. Beck Jr. says that 24-year-old Stanley Jawan Hinton, 26-year-old Jacinto Taron Robinson and 40-year-old Tawanda Aeiah Sears were convicted by a federal jury this week.

The incident began after the victim purchased a vehicle from Hinton in August 2014. The victim later discovered problems with the car and demanded his money back.

He then met with the suspects at an Alabama gas station after they promised to refund the money. After arriving at the gas station, the suspects stole the car at gunpoint.

The suspects were arrested after an investigation. They are set for sentencing this fall.
