TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A convicted felon on probation was arrested on drug and gun charges after he cursed out an off-duty Leon County Sheriff's Office detective who then had colleagues conduct a traffic stop.

As the detective was leaving his car in a parking lot at 5810 North Monroe on Tuesday night when Jarrod Fletcher, 27, said to him, "Don't hit my car door, (expletive)!"

During the encounter, the detective noticed smoke coming out of Fletcher's car and smelled marijuana coming from it, according to a post on the Facebook page of the Leon County Sheriff's Office.

The detective called other law enforcement working in Operation All In, who observed Fletcher's car and, upon conducting a traffic stop on it, also smelled marijuana.

Searching Fletcher's vehicle, the officers found marijuana and a loaded handgun.

Fletcher was arrested for possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and two violations of probation.

He was booked in to the Leon County Detention Center on Tuesday and held on $5,200 bond.
