TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)--The Consolidated Dispatch Agency in Tallahassee is working to fill more than a dozen 911 dispatch positions.
The agency hoping to ease your mind saying there is no interruption in service while they look for qualified candidates.
They're the ones that answer your call during an emergency.
"You never know what the next calls going to bring," said William Blanton.
William Blanton has worked as a dispatcher for 23 years.
"This morning an infant having problems breathing, having a seizure you have one call that might be as traumatic as that to house fires it can be anything," said Blanton.
He admits it can be stressful but the he say's it's worth because he's saving lives.
If you're interested, the Consolidated Dispatch agency is hiring public safety communication operators or dispatchers.
"We currently have 15 vacancies and those vacancies are due to attrition," said Timothy Lee, the director of the Consolidated Dispatch Agency."What the employees have done is create a homogenous environment and a wonderful place to work."
Lee says don't worry, no matter when you call 9-1-1, they have a full staff with dispatchers working overtime.
Lee says they are looking to fill the jobs in the next month and a half.
He says once people are on board they go through a six week training academy, then work nine months with a trainer before they're out on the front lines. Click here to find out how to apply.
