VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - One south Georgia company is offering some much needed advice for everyone preparing to brace the cold.
Seth Ray with Ray and Son Heating and Air Conditioning in Valdosta says that if you're planning to heat your home to ward off the cold, turn your systems on now.
Ray says if you preheat your home early, the less strain it will be on your system once the temperature drops.
Not only will it take some of the stress off of the system, but it won't take as long to heat up.
Ray adds that turning on your systems early will alert you if anything is wrong.
He says make sure heat is blowing and no smells are present. This will prevent fire, poisoning and still keep you warm.
