TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The struggle for companies to find truck drivers continues.
One company that is having increasing troubles is Walmart. The retail giant raised its pay for truck drivers to $90,000 and is looking to hire more.
Some of the reasons for the shortage include regulations on drivers and fewer people shopping at mom and pop stores.
One truck driver explains his problem with the regulations.
"Hour of service kind of suck that the government has put in place. We can only work about 70 hours a week in a 7 day period," said Daniel Reeve, a local truck driver. "14 hours a day on the clock, 11 behind the wheel, which is great because safety is important and I like the 14, 11. The issue is the 70 hour clock. Where they limit how much you can make and work."
Last year, Walmart hired about 1,400 new truck drivers.
