TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Tuesday night, family and friends will gather to remember a Tallahassee man brutally murdered a year ago.
The vigil is all about showing love and support for Hoyt Birge and the people left behind just one year after he was killed in Tallahassee.
According to court documents, a witness saw a group of men beating Birge with a hammer and baseball bat at a home on Mission Road. Then, police say he was shot.
Birge's body was found in the truck of a car on May 9, 2017.
Loved ones will light a candle in his honor and spend tonight remembering their fallen friend.
The event will run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Levee Park. All are welcome to attend.
There are a total of eight suspects in Birge's death. One of them, Paige Vowell, was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison just last month.
The other seven suspects will stand trial in September.
