TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - On Monday people participated in a day of service to honor Martin Luther King Jr.
At the beginning of the event leaders in the community spoke to the volunteers before taking the next couple of hours to walk up and down the streets near the Tallahassee Urban League, picking up trash and talking with people in the community.
Curtis Taylor, President and CEO of Tallahassee Urban League, said this kind of service project is great for the kids.
"For them to be involved in something like this or at an early age is really significant," said Taylor. "We hope it is something that will stay with them, it will be something that they will continue and go back to their various communities. As a teen we can all make a difference."
After the clean up everyone got to enjoy some food from Piggly Wiggly.
