TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The Fourth Community Summit on Children kicked off Thursday at the Augustus B. Turnbull Conference Center.

The summit is geared at boosting the resources for early childhood development.

Thursday's initiative gathered community business leaders as well as teachers from across Tallahassee and Leon County.

This week is Family First Week and 'Fun for Tally Kids' has offered a variety of activities through the week celebrating kids and their families.

The Summit's goal started by Mayor Andrew Gillum and his wife, is designed to make sure every child is ready for school and has the tools for success.

"We have brilliant people here in our city and we want to put there knowledge on display so the folks in this city know they have immediate access to the resources they need, to help us fill the mission creating an opportunity to learn for all kids," said Gillum.
