BERRIEN COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - One South Georgia man now sits behind bars as deputies recover thousands of dollars worth of illegal marijuana in Berrien County.
65-year-old Jake Lamar Coker was arrested when deputies with the Berrien County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia Governors Drug Task Force, discovered six to ten foot in length, marijuana plants just North of Enigma off of Fire Tower Road.
One neighbor says things like this are not common in this area.
"Round here I haven't heard anything about nobody growing marijuana or selling marijuana here, like I said everything is kind of quiet, and we don't have no problems out of the kids," said the neighbor.
Coker is now being charged with manufacturing marijuana and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
