Community leaders gather for Father-Son Convocation

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.-- Local community leaders gathered to celebrate Father's Day weekend with a Father-Son Convocation. It was held at Missionary Baptist Church on June 15.

The honorees included Representative Alan Williams, Reverend Jermaine Simmons, FAMU football coach Earl Holmes, director of the Tallahassee Boys Choir Dr. Earl Lee, first president of 100 Black Men of Tallahassee Tommie Mitchell, President of 100 Black Men of Tallahassee Col. Ronald M. Joe, Sr. and coaching hall of famer Dr. Nelson Townsend.

There was also a special salute to Bethel's 2013 Male High School graduates, the 2013 Tallahassee Links Beaux and the "Best and the Brightest" Black Male 2013 Chamber of Commerce honorees.

The event encouraged "strengthening our fathers, supporting our sons."
