TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Everyone was invited to celebrate Florida A&M University Athletics and the Marching 100 at a community kick-off party on Thursday.
With the excitement of football season around the corner, the community came together to hype up the athletes and Marching 100.
Everyone got free fish dinners and were able to interact with coaches, athletes, and band members.
The event was hosted by Leon County Commissioner Bill Proctor and the Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce.
"It revives a community spirit. Supporting FAMU tells the young people who are members of the team, who represent the university across the nation throughout all of our athletic programs, how important we deem what they're doing for our community. That we love them," said Proctor. "That we are supporting their educational efforts and that we know it's all in the spirit of community."
FAMU's Head Football Coach, Willie Simmons, and Director of Bands, Shelby Chipman, were honored as well.
