TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - People are gathering at a fundraiser for two Gadsden County boys in recovery after a violent attack nearly took their lives in April.

Not only was the event a fundraiser for the ongoing medical needs, but it was also a birthday celebration.

Brothers, Juan Pedro and Guillermo Timoteo, are turning 2-years-old and 1-year-old this month.

Family of the Nino-Brown brothers aren't just celebrating another year, but also the miraculous recovery of the little boys.

Just three months ago, they went into surgery with life threatening injuries after their mother allegedly stabbed them multiple times.

A family friend, Robert Keaton, who is also a nurse feels the first responders and surgical team helped make this miracle a reality.

"The boys are so beautiful and so innocent in that strangers, strangers to me, strangers to these children have reached out across thousand of miles, across two countries to pray for and financially support these boys," said Keaton.

Keaton says the community outreach has given and continues to give the family strength.

Businesses and organizations donated raffle items for Sunday's fundraiser.

All proceeds will go to the Nino-Brown family.
