PORT ORANGE, Fla. (AP) — Nearly a year after her father fatally shot her two older siblings in their central Florida home, a 10-year-old girl is on the mend.

David Mohney also shot Lauren Mohney before killing himself during an argument with his wife last October.

Cynthia Mohney fled the house before the shootings. She told the Daytona Beach News-Journal (http://bit.ly/1ObHUm7 ) Lauren never fails to impress.

On Wednesday, the pair attended the dedication of a magnolia tree and plaque at Spruce Creek High School where 14-year-old Savana was a student and cross country runner. Eleven-year-old David also died.

Cynthia Mahoney says Lauren was shot twice in the head and suffered a stroke. She returned to elementary school in January and finished fourth grade.

She says the community helped them pull through the tragedy.
