Community enjoys 'Sip and Stroll' event in Thomasville

THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL) - On Friday, pockets of entertainment filled the streets for some First Friday fun in Thomasville.

There were local dance groups, fire throwers, musicians, and more.

Locals say they come out to this event every month because it's the best way to bring the community together.

Not only does the Sip and Stroll bring everyone together, it gets locals out and exploring downtown.

"The whole point of these events is to bring people into our downtown. It's a huge economic boost to our businesses," said April Norton, Main Street Director. "We want people to come and shop and dine. We used to hold these events, shut down the streets, and host them."

Norton says, the Thomasville Ampitheatre opened exactly a year ago.

Having a community hub to host the First Friday Sip and Stroll has helped grow this event even more.

The event brings so much foot traffic, so shops and restaurants stay open late.
