TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - To help the Tallahassee community as it recovers from Hurricane Michael, Comcast has sent the Xfinity WiFi on Wheels or “WoW” van to provide free wireless internet service.
The vehicle is set up at the LeRoy Collins Leon County Main Library in downtown Tallahassee, which is also open to the public as a comfort station. The customized van is outfitted with six WiFi access points, which can provide wireless internet connectivity to thousands of users over a 500 square foot area.
In addition, Comcast’s network of more than 8,000 Xfinity WiFi hotspots throughout the Florida Panhandle, including in Tallahassee, remains open for anyone to use for free, including non-Xfinity customers.
They will be out there Saturday until 7:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
