Fla. (WTXL) - Comcast is adding new wi-fi hotspots all over the country and the changes are happening in an unexpected place...your home.
Comcast is currently rolling out a program that uses your modem to allow other Comcast users to sign on the internet.
To tell if your modem is a public hotspot, you should look for an "xfinitywifi" public broadcast from your router.
Comcast has already installed 1 million hotspots across the nation, including in Tallahassee, and plans to reach 8 million by the end of the year. You can opt out of the program through Comcast's website.
