Collegetown opens in Tallahassee

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)--Just in time for the first Florida State home football game of the season, a brand new entertainment district in Tallahassee opens.

It's walking distance from Doak Campbell Stadium near the intramural fields on Madison Street. Restaurants are now opening their doors and people are moving into apartments in the district. There's still more to come including a venue for live music. An Urban Outfitters store is expected to open next year. Seminole Boosters President Andy Miller hopes Collegetown will attract lots of people to Tallahassee.

"It gives us a place where people can gather," said Miller. "We have to raise the stakes for people out of town and people who come from seven hours from Tallahassee. We have to provide more of a weekend experience, a game day experience for fans and supporters of the university."
