TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- The search for the new Florida State President is underway again.
The search committee met Friday afternoon, along with the newly hired search firm Storbeck/Pimentel & Associates, to approve a timeline.
The advisory committee unanimously approved a schedule that would have the new FSU President in place by the end of September.
The schedule is:
- Sept. 2 – Application deadline
- Sept. 5 – Presidential Search Advisory Committee (PSAC) meeting to discuss candidates and select finalists
- Sept. 8 & 9 – PSAC conducts initial interviews with selected candidates
- Sept. 15-18 – Campus hosts candidates for extensive on-campus interviews
- Sept. 19 – Campus feedback due
- Sept. 22 – PSAC meeting
Eric Barron stepped down from FSU to take the top job at Penn State University. But the search to find a replacement has been tumultuous.
Initially the search committee was prepared to designate powerful Republican state senator John Thrasher as the main candidate for the job. But there was a backlash over that decision and the search consultant stepped down amid faculty criticism.
