TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - It's been a busy day for the Tallahassee City Commission as it reviews several key issues.

Commissioners met Wednesday and reviewed several key issues.

Mayor Andrew Gillum called for a stronger code of ethics in a workshop Wednesday afternoon. He also plans to talk about the city's response to recent crime and Tallahassee Police are asking the city to help pay for body cameras.

First, let's talk about the ethics code.

Mayor Gillum issued a six-part approach to making it stronger. This comes in light of city manager Rick Fernandez allegedly asking for football tickets from a lobbyist.

In other news, the mayor plans to also address violence in the city. He met with local leaders earlier this week about opening up the emergency operations center, but that plan was rejected.

And finally, Tallahassee Police secured a grant from the Department of Justice to equip all of its sworn officers with body cameras.

They're asking for 450 units and are asking the city to contribute $800,000 in addition to the grant.
