TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - In this segment of COCA Connection, we're talking about a blues festival at Blue Tavern.
On Saturday, May 19, Blue Tavern will host Backyard Blues, an all-day (and evening) event with outdoor and indoor stages featuring several local and regional blues musicians.
The event is being hosted to promote blues in the community and provide a fun, small scale, festival for everyone to enjoy.
Local blues performers as well as a couple of regional acts will fill two stages, one inside and one outside, for an all day festival.
The lineup includes singer extraordinaire Avis Berry; Charles Atkins & his New Blue Band; Brett Wellman & Chris Balding of the Stone Cold Blues Band; Darryl Steele and the 13th Power; country-blues players Belmont & Jones, Caleb Vaughn, Frank Lindamood; Jon Copps; piano boogieman Steve Sternberg; and Gainesville’s favorite blues band – the Bridget Kelly Band.
Blue Tavern's kitchen will also be open, supplemented by Curbside Barbecue, and the entire back alley will be cleared for a crowd. Lawn chairs are encouraged!
Advance tickets are $20 available at Blue Tavern or Music Masters ($22 for credit card purchase online), or $25 day of the event ($27 credit card).
Gates open at 2 p.m. Parking is available in neighborhood lots at Music Masters and FedEx.
