WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL)--Coastal residents react to the heavy rain and strong winds Tropical Storm Andrea is bringing to the area. We're only days into the 2013 hurricane season.

"This is a real blessing to this area because it was dry," said Wakulla County resident Warren Crum.

Warren Crum isn't worried about Tropical Storm Andrea. He says he and his family have been through much worse.

"I've actually lost a house to high waters that is the reason this house is up so high," said Crum.

He built his house 24 feet above sea level after Hurricane Dennis destroyed his home. It was that same hurricane that also flooded the Maritime Center. This week 10-16 year old children were building boats to take out on the waters but Andrea put a stop to the fun.

"We had to cancel because we weren't sure if the kids could get home at the end of the day," said volunteer Roger Pinholster.

Many coastal residents are hopeful the storm remains a just an inconvenience and nothing more.
