ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The U.S. Coast Guard will not continue their search for the Kimberly family, who went missing Sunday after leaving Sarasota for Ft. Myers on a 29-foot sailboat.
"This is probably the most difficult decision I ever have to make in this position," Commander Gregory Case told reporters Saturday.
The Coast Guard says they have covered over 35,000 nautical miles in their search efforts. Along the way, they recovered two bodies, two kayaks, and a long list of other items. All presumably belonging to the family.
The four missing boaters are Ace Kimberly and his three teenage children Rebecca, Roger, and Donny.
