JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. (AP) — The U.S. Coast Guard and other local law enforcement agencies are searching off Jacksonville Beach for a 22-year-old kayaker.
Officials say Garth Sangree was last seen Friday evening and had said he was going into the Atlantic by himself on Saturday.
Jacksonville Beach police notified the Coast Guard of the missing kayaker on Sunday afternoon.
The Florida Times Union (http://bit.ly/1yksoKz ) reports a Coast Guard crew from Mayport reached the search area around 5:40 p.m. Sunday. A plane from Clearwater Air Station and a helicopter from Savannah Air Station also joined the search.
The Coast Guard also issued an Urgent Marine Information Broadcast about Sangree who was on a lime green and white kayak.
