FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — The United States Coast Guard is offloading some $40 million of cocaine at Port Everglades.
Crewmembers of the Coast Guard Cutter Vigorous started unloading approximately 1,212 kilograms of cocaine early Friday in Fort Lauderdale.
The cocaine was seized during two interdictions in the Caribbean Sea earlier this month as part of Operation Martillo.
Lt. Commander Gabe Somma says the 7th Coast Guard District, which covers the southeastern United States, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, also unloaded some $12 million in cocaine in Tampa and around $32 million in Puerto Rico this week.
