LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Starting Thursday, you may notice some giant blue donation bins at some schools in Leon County.
Goodwill Industries of the Big Bend is placing eight donation boxes outside various schools within the county.
This will provide a convenient spot for parents to donate clothing while picking up or dropping off their child to school.
Fred Shelfer, the CEO of Goodwill Industries of the Big Bend, says when students feel comfortable in clothes they perform better in school.
"We feel like every student should have the best opportunity possible to do well in school," said Shelfer. "How they feel about themselves or self image is important, so we want every child to be able to go to school feeling good about what they are wearing."
The donation boxes will be placed at:
- Buck Lake Elementary
- Desoto Trail Elementary
- Hawks Rise Elementary
- Chaires Elementary
- Killearn Lakes Elementary
- Cobb Middle School
- Deerlake Middle School
- Swift Creek Middle School
