TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Giving Tuesday, it is an exciting day for a local Tallahassee outreach organization that depends on donations to continue to serve the homeless and disenfranchised in the community.
Different people and companies partnered up with City Walk as their chosen charity for Giving Tuesday which means they have been working since the beginning of November to raise money, donations, and awareness of the organization's mission.
Tuesday they all gathered at the City Walk Urban Mission Thrift Store from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. to celebrate and bring in their donations.
Renee Miller, Executive Director and Pastor of City Walk, said hopefully it is enough donations to fund their their primary focus.
"Our primary focus is the transitional housing for men coming out of prison with a work reentry program and they really need a larger facility and if we raise enough money we will buy a new home," said Miller.
The thrift store on North Monroe Street is part of their 17,000 square foot center. The men's transitional home is in a different secure location.
