TALLAHASSEE, FLA. (WTXL) - Tallahassee bars are at odds over operating hours.
Under the current alcoholic beverages code, all alcoholic beverage establishments must close at 2:30am. Now some owners are saying they can stay open longer, because they hold a special restaurant license.
City records show that the Coliseum, Roxy's at the Edge, as well as Baja's Beach Club all carry this special license.
However, other bars who do close at 2:30am are saying this isn't fair and it's creating an "uneven playing field".
City documents show that several local bar owners presented their objections to the city attorney and city manager. On Wednesday, city commissioners will meet to discuss revising the ordinance; to clarify closing hours for alcoholic beverage establishments that hold this special restaurant license.
