VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - The City of Valdosta is hoping to get more citizens involved in the local government.
They have nine opportunities for citizens to apply to different boards, commissions, authorities or advisory committees.
The volunteer positions will only take a few hours each month, and are designed to give citizens a voice in their local government.
If you're interested in filling one of the positions, you have until October 28th to apply.
The Mayor and City Council will evaluate applications at the November 5 City Council meeting.
The open positions are as follows:
- Central Valdosta Development Authority/Downtown Development Authority – 3 appointments
- Valdosta Housing Authority – 1 appointment
- Valdosta-Lowndes County Conference Center & Tourism Authority – 1 appointment
- Valdosta-Lowndes County Construction Board of Adjustments & Appeals (electrician slot) –1 appointment
- Valdosta-Lowndes County Development Authority – 1 appointment
- Valdosta-Lowndes County Parks & Recreation Authority – 1 appointment
- Valdosta Tree Commission – 1 appointment
