VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - The City of Valdosta is asking for your help preparing for Veterans Day.

They are looking for volunteers to help plant 7 trees in the city to honor veterans.

The project is made possible by a $2,700 dollar grant from Georgia ReLeaf.

The trees will be planted around the American Legion Post 13 and will include Crepe Myrtles, a Live oak, and one Gingko tree, which will replace a former tree that was planted in 1994 to honor Margaret Ashley Greene, a Gold Star Mother of World War I.

The event will take place this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The trees will then be dedicated at the city's Veterans Day ceremony on Nov. 11.
