City of Valdosta Giving Residents a Chance to Participate in Local Government

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - If you live in Valdosta and have ever wanted to work in a public service role, there's 10 opportunities for you to serve your community. 

There are currently positions vacant on the city's boards, commissions, authorities, and advisory committees.

They are volunteer positions that only require a few hours of your time each month and they're designed to give citizens a voice in local government.

The only requirement to apply is that you must have been a Lowndes County resident for at least 6 months.

The Mayor and City cCuncil will look at the applicants and appoint the positions at the August 6 City Council meeting.

Details about the positions are below: 

· Valdosta-Lowndes County Construction Board of Adjustments & Appeals—1 Appointment.

· Community Development Block Grant Advisory Committee – 2 Appointments.

· Valdosta Tree Commission – 3 Appointments.
