TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The City of Tallahassee is partnering with members of the Greater Bond Community to make various improvements throughout the community.

"Every neighborhood wants to be beautiful. You know were on the Southside of town," said Talethia Edwards, the president of the Greater Bond Neighborhood Association. "A lot of people identify us with our high crime rates, and the city coming out addressing those small imperfections that we have in the neighborhood only adds to the beautiful place that we call home."

Crews from the city of Tallahassee are repairing sidewalks and fixing street lights in the Bond community all in an effort to help prevent crime in the local area as apart of their Neighborhood Public Safety Initiative.

"It was an assessment that took place in February that identified the good things in the neighborhood and some opportunities for improvement," said Leann Watts-Williams, the City of Tallahassee neighborhood services coordinator. "So city departments and crews are out here improving those things that were identified in that assessment."

City officials say they will keep working with local residents to find more ways to make improvements here in the bond area and to show that Bond is beautiful.

"We're going to continue to engage with the neighborhood because this is their neighborhood and we just want to make it better for them," said Watts-Williams.

"We're going to see the product of all our hardwork," said Edwards. "All of the canvasing and so I'm proud to see the end result of the blitz."

The city is planning several public safety meetings to recruit volunteers to get involved with the initiative.
