TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)-- The City of Tallahassee gives dozens of residents an up close look at how their electricity is generated.
They held an open house tour at the Hopkins Power Plant Sunday afternoon. It featured activities for all ages, guided tours, field demonstrations and helicopter displays. There was also food and games along with products to help customers save energy and money.
"We open the plant up once a year to allow the public to come out and learn about how we generate electricity for the City of Tallahassee," said Sandra Manning with the City of Tallahassee. "It's a great opportunity for the children to learn about the power plant and its operation."
The Hopkins Plant has been named one of the top six gas-fired, electric generating facilities in the world.
