TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The City of Tallahassee is just about ready to unveil its FAMU Way project, after several years in the making.
Tuesday they gave a sneak peak of the enhancements in the area, showing off the roadway's design and new amenities.
Once it is all complete, the roundabout at Wahnish Way and FAMU Way will serve as the signature entrance onto FAMU.
Starting at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22, Wahnish Way will close between FAMU Way and Eugenia Street to allow the new roundabout to be completed and connected to the existing roadway.
City and FAMU leaders say the wait will be worth it.
"I think it's going to elevate our exposure and our student experience," says FAMU President Dr. Elmira Mangum, "So I'm thankful that the City and all of you invested in making sure this project came to fruition."
The grand opening of FAMU Way is expected to take place on October 15th, just in time for the Rattler's Homecoming festivities.
