TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The city of Tallahassee is paying tribute to those we lost during the attacks and the people who survived.

First responders, city officials, and members of the community all came out to the Tallahassee Fire Department's Station 16 all to remember the lives lost and the lives impacted during 9/11.

The city of Tallahassee chooses a different fire station for the memorial every year as a way to also honor and remember the first responders and citizens who risked their lives to help others during the attack.

Tuesday's ceremony also displayed the involvement from multiple agencies, with the fire department, police department, paramedics, and city officials all sharing roles in the memorial.

A serviceman in the audience noted the inclusion of all roles and says he's happy to see everyone receive the appropriate recognition.

Especially now that as the years pass by, many people don't remember much or anything about the tragic events.

"My mom taught me some stuff while we were driving over here about something that happened before I was even born," said Lauren Anislie Longfellow.

Some of the people in the audience were even brought to tears, showing that 17 years later, this is still an emotional day for many across the country.
