TALLAHASSEE, Fl. (WTXL) -- Thursday in Tallahassee, park officials met to discuss proposed changes to the "Lake Leon Playground" at Tom Brown Park.
The City of Tallahassee's Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood affairs department, has applied for a new $50,000 grant. The grant would be used along with city funding, to make changes to the playground.
Those proposed changes include replacing equipment and picnic shelters, as well as making improvements to surrounding trails. "We just finished building a restroom at the park", said Senior Planner Susan Tanski, "So now that that will be open, we're going to move to the playground."
When the city receives the grant, that is when the playground construction can begin. The process will take longer than previously expected, but the department says the plans are still in motion.
