TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - If you have ever wanted to start a community garden, the City of Tallahassee is happy to help.
The city says there are many benefits to having a community garden such as bringing fresh food into a household diet, meeting your neighbors, and even improve security by taking up vacant lots owned by the city.
One gardener says that he had only met a few of his neighbors before start his own community garden.
"I have met them all now. I actually hadn't met more than a couple of my neighbors prior to doing this," said Russell Degrove. "It was really interesting going around to ask people to sign on for support, because that as really just cold knocking on people's door and I was pretty scared of doing it, but the reception was extremely positive."
