TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The City of Tallahassee has announced several service changes in anticipation of the Labor Day holiday.

The City of Tallahassee’s administrative offices will be closed on Monday, Sept. 4, in observance of the Labor Day holiday.

During the holiday week, all residential customers will receive service one day later than their regularly scheduled service. This includes garbage / recycling and yard waste / bulky pickup, which will impact blue week customers:

  • Monday customers ► Tuesday, Sept. 5
  • Tuesday customers ► Wednesday, Sept. 6
  • Wednesday customers ► Thursday, Sept. 7
  • Thursday customers ► Friday, Sept. 8
  • Friday customers ► Saturday, Sept. 9

They say garbage and recycling containers should both be rolled to the curb for pickup by 6:30 a.m. on collection day, with both containers returned to the home no later than the day after collection.

StarMetro, the City's mass transit system, will also change its operations for the holiday.

On Monday, Sept. 4, fixed routes will operate on a Sunday schedule with no night service. Community Transportation Services will also operate a Sunday schedule. There will be no Dial-A-Ride service.

The city says that on Monday, the Animal Service Center will be closed and will reopen at 10:30 a.m. The City Animal Control will be available for emergency situations only on Monday and can be reached at 606-5800.

Community centers operated by the City of Tallahassee Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Affairs Department will be closed on Monday and will reopen on Tuesday as well.
