TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The City of Tallahassee’s administrative offices will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 23-24.
Following are schedule changes for the week of November 19-25 for solid waste customers living inside the Tallahassee city limits, StarMetro, the Animal Service Center and City-run community centers.
SOLID WASTE SCHEDULE CHANGES
GARBAGE / RECYCLING / YARD WASTE (red week) / BULKY ITEMS (red week) – Commercial customers due for service on Thursday, Nov. 23, will either be serviced on Wednesday, Nov. 22, or Friday, Nov. 24.
Some residential customers will receive service one day later than their regularly scheduled service:
- Monday customers - No change
- Tuesday customers - No change
- Wednesday customers - No change
- Thursday customers - Friday, Nov. 24
- Friday customers - Saturday, Nov. 25
Garbage and recycling containers should both be rolled to the curb for pickup by 6:30 a.m. on collection day, with both containers returned to the home no later than the day after collection.
Customers are reminded to separate yard waste piles from any bulky items set out for pickup. Customers needing more information may view solid waste schedules at Talgov.com/YOU or contact City of Tallahassee Utilities at 891-4968.
STARMETRO SCHEDULE CHANGES
StarMetro, the City's mass transit system, will change its operations for the Thanksgiving holiday, as follows:
Fixed Route Services
Thursday, Nov. 23 - There will be no fixed route service on Thanksgiving Day.
Friday, Nov. 24 – StarMetro’s fixed route service will operate on Saturday schedule with night service, including the Trolley.
Dial-a-Ride Services
Thursday, Nov. 23 - There will be no Dial-A-Ride service on Thanksgiving Day.
Friday, Nov. 24 - Dial-A-Ride will operate on a Saturday schedule.
On Friday, Nov. 24, StarMetro’s Customer Call Center will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and the C.K. Steele Plaza booth will be open from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

ANIMAL SERVICE CENTER
The Animal Service Center will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 23-24. Normal hours will resume on Saturday, Nov. 25, with the center opening at 10 a.m.
Customers needing more information, including photos of animals available for adoption, may visit Talgov.com/animals or contact the Animal Service Center at 891-2950.
City Animal Control will be available for emergencies only on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 23-24, and can be reached via the Consolidated Dispatch Agency at 606-5800.
PARKS AND RECREATION UPDATES
Community centers operated by the City of Tallahassee Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Affairs Department will be closed Thursday, Nov. 23, through Sunday, Nov. 26.
