Posted

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)--The City of Tallahassee is gearing up for the second Neighbors on the Block event. It's part of Operation Safe Neighborhoods, the city's newest initiative to cut down on crime.

It's taking place Friday night in coordination with Splash & Jam, a free safe alternative for late night summer fun.

The event will take place from 7-11 p.m. at the Jack McLean Community Center on Paul Russell Road from 7-9 p.m. There will be pool activities for the whole family. The party moves inside the community center for a “Pumps and Polos” themed event from 9-11 p.m.

The Tallahassee Police Department's mobile Command unit will be on site. Community members can visit the unit to speak with officers and pick up information and contact numbers for crime reporting. Officers will also be listening to concerns.
