TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - The City of Tallahassee has released its schedule of services for the New Year's Day holiday.
During the holiday week, all residential solid waste customers will receive service one day later than their regularly scheduled service. The holiday will impact red week customers for bulky item and yard waste pickup.
- Monday customers - Tuesday, Jan. 2
- Tuesday customers - Wednesday, Jan. 3
- Wednesday customers - Thursday, Jan. 4
- Thursday customers - Friday, Jan. 5
- Friday customers - Saturday, Jan. 6
To help prevent crime as the holiday season winds down, the City of Tallahassee has set up special cardboard-only receptacles in three community locations.
The recycling receptacles are available through Friday, Dec. 29, and are at the James Messer Sports Complex (2830 Jackson Bluff Road), Tom Brown Park (443 Easterwood Drive) and San Luis Mission Park (131 San Luis Road).
Boxes serve as billboards for criminals driving through your neighborhood, a city news release said. Instead of leaving the boxes in front of your home for recycling, bring them to the designated cardboard-only receptacles to help deter potential break-ins.
Garbage and recycling containers should both be rolled to the curb for pickup by 6:30 a.m. on collection day, with both containers returned to the home no later than the day after collection.
Customers are reminded to separate yard waste piles from any bulky items set out for pickup.
