City of Moultrie to Remove 8 Railroad Tracks in Coming Months

MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) - At least 8 railroad tracks will be removed in Moultrie.

It will happen over the next 15-20 months.

The City of Moultrie said the timing will depend on railroad company cooperation, weather and funding.

Two tracks on the 1st Avenue North East Crossing and the 2nd Avenue North East Crossing will still be used, but repairs will be made.

Here is a full list of railroad tracks to be worked on:

  • 2nd Ave NE Crossing - This track will remain for use, will make repairs.
  • 1st Ave NE Crossing - This track will remain for use, will make repairs.
  • East Central Ave Crossing - State Route - can be removed or repaired, pending GDOT.
  • 2nd Ave SE Crossing - to be removed.
  • 5th Ave SE Crossing - to be removed.
  • 6th Ave SE Crossing - to be removed.
  • 9th Ave SE Crossing - to be removed.
  • Hillcrest Crossing - to be removed.
  • 12th Ave SE Crossing - to be removed.
  • 15th Ave SE Crossing - to be removed.
  • 26th Ave SE Crossing - to be removed.
