BAINBRIDGE, GA (WTXL) - Bainbridge is trading some of its asphalt roads for the original brick roads as part of a long-term goal for the Downtown Development Committee.
The bricks have been covered for more than 6 decades by asphalt, but that all changed in 2010 when the first road was restored to its former glory.
Earlier this week, a second street got the same treatment.
The ultimate goal is to expose the brick around Willis Park and down Water Street.
They hoped that as the brick is exposed, it will expose visitors to the heritage of Bainbridge.
"I hope that the students understand that it just doesn't come, that it is that there are people behind it and those people and those officials are doing those jobs to bring in those funds and to bring in those activities for us to be able to enjoy," explained Lindsey Jarrett, who is a Bainbridge High School teacher.
Events like these, have been a yearly event for Bainbridge students for the last 15 years.
