TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - The City Manager has submitted his budget proposal for Fiscal Year 2017.
The proposed operating budget, totaling $701.5 million, is scheduled to be discussed at a budget workshop next Monday.
According the city documents, this budget proposal for the general fund is $3.2 million less than FY 2016. City Manager Rick Fernandez says the reductions are because of added efficiency, re-organization and reducing the number of full time positions. One major source of reduction, $1.3 million compared to last year, comes from Star Metro.
Despite the reductions, the proposed budget accounts for pay increases and increased health care costs.
The budget workshop is scheduled for Monday, June 20 at 6 p.m. at the Walker Ford Community Center.
