VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL) - All throughout the month of February, city leaders invite you to "Love Downtown Valdosta."
For every $25 spent downtown, shoppers and restaurant patrons will receive a raffle ticket for the chance to win $200 to spend downtown.
The director of Valdosta Main Street hopes this campaign brings more people to an up-and-coming area.
"Maybe it will entice someone to come downtown who hasn't normally come down here who may have just never come down but this is the reason why they want to come down to downtown Valdosta," said Ellen Hill.
It's not only beneficial for the city to have this promotion. Every business in downtown Valdosta is participating and some hope, it will boost their own business.
"In the past it has been a little up and down, but we are on a mission this time to make sure it stays up," said Dustin Van Fleet, Co-owner, livi & company.
"I think it will help bring the downtown businesses together, maybe even bring more businesses downtown in hopes that our downtown will become more like Thomasville where there are more retail shops and service businesses," said Oliver Barrett Sublime Owner.
Overall the main goal is to bring the city together during the month of love to help grow the passion for downtown.
