TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - On Wednesday afternoon, Tallahassee city commissioners approved two grants to restore the Water Works building, located near Cascades Park.

The city commission approved two grants totaling $60,000, to help renovate the building, hasn't been used in over 50 years.

The Knight Creative Communities Institute will be helping Tallahassee Real Estate Management with funding and renovation phases set for the building.

The city's real estate manager, Judy Donahoe, says this will greatly improve the area: "It'll certainly be a benefit to the city and it will also be an adjunct to Cascades Park."

Leaders hope the building can have a cultural component for the city, adding a historical element to the restoration.
