TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Wednesday night, commissioners are expected to tackle several issues from medicinal marijuana to funding for a local homeless shelter.

One issue the commission is expected to talk about is matters dealing with the Consolidated Dispatch Agency, starting with the termination of the current director.

The CDA started out as a joint dispatch center and has since been through a long process of melding together the Tallahassee Fire and Police Departments with the city and county as a whole.

The commission is discussing its role in the future of the CDA and determining whether or not its current director will retain his position.

The commission is also expected to talk about state disaster funding.

Ahead of the meeting, city and county housing staff have been developing a standard application and program policies for the use of these disaster funds.

Staff say they are using current FEMA data and damage assessments to identify potential applicants for the disaster assistance funds.

Following Hurricanes Matthew and Hermine, the city has received more than 5 million dollars in disaster funds.

Governing officials will now need to develop a plan for distributing that money to those affected most by the natural disasters.

Also on the agenda for city leaders Wednesday night is a proposal for further funding for the Kearney Center. The commission will look at last quarter's budget reports, in order to start planning for the year to come.
