TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Local engineering company, Figg Bridge Engineering, designed the bridge that collapsed in Miami and are releasing more details about their role in the construction.

They say, the project is part of a $19 million "Tiger Grant" through the U.S. Department of Transportation.

They say, no other bridge designed by them has ever experienced such a collapse.

Figg Bridge Engineering is the same company who designed the bridge at Cascades Park. WTXL spoke with City commissioners who say they're taking action.

"We're asking the state to come in. They do a twice every other year inspection of bridges in the state, said Mayor Pro Tem, Curtis Richardson."We've asked them to come in and do an early inspection just to make sure that everything is as it should be, and that an incident like that couldn't happen here in Tallahassee."

Figg says they will fully cooperate with every appropriate authority in reviewing what happened and why.
