TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A city commissioner and a local resident are speaking out following some controversy over a bribery accusation at this week's Tallahassee City Commission meeting.

During the meeting, business owner Erwin Jackson handed out $5,000 to commissioners and mayor Andrew Gillum.

He told commissioners it was an actual bribe in light of the recent FBI investigation into local development deals in Tallahassee and allegations against city manager Rick Fernandez.

"It's much easier than talking about bribery and trying to define it, it was much easier to show it to them on TV," said Jackson.

Tallahassee city commissioner Gil Ziffer also sent WTXL a statement saying quote:

"Clearly Dr. Jackson has some strong views on recent City of Tallahassee developments, but coming to the City Commission meeting, throwing cash, suggesting bribery.... is inappropriate," said Ziffer. "City Commission Chambers is no place for that type of behavior."
