TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Wednesday night the City Commission in Tallahassee is meeting to discuss funding for law enforcement and affordable housing.
The Florida Department of Transportation has asked the city to renew a grant to support DUI enforcement operations, by awarding funds to FDOT and the Tallahassee Police Department.
The funding would be used to increase patrols and fund additional checkpoints.
The fire department is asking the city to apply for a homeland security grant, that could put $167,000 toward the Tallahassee Fire Department's existing hazmat team, and urban search and rescue training.
The City Commission will also discuss a state housing initiative or ship funds-- that would support the growth of affordable housing in the capital city.
