THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL)--Thieves break into a church in Thomasville, leaving some people in the community on edge.
Thomasville police found the front door of the Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church open around 1:45 Wednesday morning. A glass window was shattered and wet footprints were even found on the basement floor.
Police say some items were pulled out from the pulpit. A silver communion set was stolen which included a drink holder, bread holder and glasses.
Grape juice, a microwave, and cordless phone were among other items taken.
People at the church say there's even a neighborhood watch in place and they just can't believe it happened.
They say clean-up efforts are underway and they're working to repair the damage left behind. Police are investigating the case.
